Qype: Woolworths in London

LondonShoppingDepartment Stores

I always regret going in here. Just SO dirty. Why can’t they put a new floor down and paint the walls or something. I have seriously never been in a more run down department store.
The prices aren’t bad and the staff are helpful. The security people though make me feel that I’ve stolen something every time I walk out. Man they look like they’ve seen plenty of action. And I’m not surprised. I don’t feel it’s my place to comment on the troubled souls that frequent the place – except to say I respect why the security guy might be in a testy mood.
Depressing.

Qype: Fresh and Wild in London

Health concious new agers would kill to live right next to this place and have the farmers market opposite.
However as much as I’m put of by the try hard hippies that frequent this gourmet homage to the age of aquarias, I must admit that I cannot honestly find any weekness in it’s delivery of a food centre of excellence.
If I had lots of money – I don’t think I’d shop anywhere else. As it is – I almost never go in here. Sure organic bannanas that don’t cause oppression taste much better, but I can buy it for less than half at Morrisons.
The wines look great as do the olives and the sexily presented take out meals. But nup – less than half price every where else.
In short – perfect for what it is, but I never go there cause I’m a cheap skate.

Qype: Stoke Newington Farmers’ Market in London

Love the idea, but I just can’t get into this place. Been a few times and left purchasless and frustrated every time. Everything seems overpriced and way over trendified. I line up for something like a burger or a coffe and a few times I just stand there while the coffe man just counts money in front of me. Seriously this has happened two or three times.
Anyway I like the ethos and everything, but just feel a bit let down by the reality. I think they think people don’t mind waiting because they are all hippies and so cool, and chilled and so happy just to be seen in such a hip place.
Nah – aint for me.

Qype: Morrisons in London

I go here because it’s close and it’s cheap. Anything I can buy at a sole trader on the high st, I can get here for between half and two thirds of the price.
It’s not just the price though. This is not like an Iceland or Aldi where everything is prepacked. The morrisons has a great little deli and bakery and it has a very good range of fresh fruit and vedge.
I must admit though that by far my favourite thing about this place is the price of the beer. The government has been whinging about how cheap these places sell booze – blame them for our alcoholic culture – and maybe that’s a little right. But I just love it! You can get a four pack of Morrisons home label beer for 92p. That’s less than 50p a litre. That’s half the price of petrol! Not that I’d drink that myself, but I like to know it’s available if I ever go broke.

Qype: Bardens Boudoir in London

Just down the road from the Moustache bar is Bardens Boudoir. This is a huge basement club, similar to the facial hair place but about eight times bigger.
I’ve had some excellent nights here. Very cool mix of people. It is by far the best place for live music in Stokey. There is always a cover charge but I think it’s worth it. The beer is at pub prices which is great and there are heaps of little hidey holes and tables if you want to get a little further away from the main action.

Qype: The Moustache Bar in London

London

This is one of only really two night clubs in Stoke Newington. When I stumbled in here last Saturday night it was aboloutely packed. It was a young hip crowd dancing to loud well mixed pop infused Drum and Base.
This place is very gay friendly – if not actually a gay bar. There were quite a few male couples getting intimate without anyone raising an eyebrow. basicly it’s a single roomed basement with a couple of lounges and a long bar at one end.
The cool addtion though is the smoking section – which is a little room up some stairs at the back. It has kind of a circle of bench chairs which makes a great place to meet people.

Qype: Newington Call Centre in London

LondonServicesInternational Calls Centres

I have the internet at home these days but in the past I’ve spent hours in internet cafe’s. This one is typical I guess. About 20 computers, 4 phone booths and a photocopier.
I still use this place however for all my printing needs and occasionally for the telephone.
The staff are really helpful and friendly and the computers are very fast.
I particularly like the A4 size “No viewing of Pornography” signs above each machine. Personally I don’t find the place that arousing.
